Inspired by the “ABC’s of Death” horror anthology, “26” showcases 26 short sketches, each represented by a different letter of the alphabet. The guest writers have been randomly assigned a letter for which they chose a word that begins with that letter to serve as the title of their sketch. A cast of 8 will perform each sketch that spans the gamut of comedy, drama, surrealism, performance art and absurdism. “26” gives you a night that tackles anything from A to Z.
“26” runs every Friday at 11pm, May 26th through July 14th at The Buena Theater inside the Pride Arts Center, located at 4147 N Broadway Ave Chicago IL. Tickets are $10.00.
THE FAIR MAID OF THE WEST

This summer Amanda will star as the fair maid herself.
The swashbuckling, award winning, rip-roaring comedy, The Fair Maid of the West tells the tale of Bess Bridges, the low-born tavern girl, who falls in love with the gentleman soldier Spencer, who returns her affections. When Spencer kills a man in a tavern fight, he and his friend Goodlack are forced to flee the country and leaves his worldly goods- including a tavern of his own- to Bess for safe-keeping. While Spencer is across the sea, Bess hears falsely of his death and, as his beneficiary, vows to buy a ship, travel across the seas and bring his body home. Assisted by Goodlack, the braggart Roughman and the comic innkeeper Clem, Bess battles with the Spanish Armada as she sails the seas in search of her true love. Eventually, of course, Spencer is discovered alive and the lovers are reunited. In the second half, the crew finds themselves washed ashore the mythical Island of Fez, where the King takes a liking to Bess. His wife, Queen Tota, takes a similar liking to Spencer and our heroes must find some way to escape the kingdom with their heads intact. Spoiler alert- love conquers all.

Life is full of unanswerable questions. Ryan, an out of work playwright, must field these questions and more when her sister Anne brings her nieces to town for an unexpected visit. Ryan’s childhood friend, Becca comes along for the ride but in the midst of the chaos reveals her affections. Affections everyone else has known for years… except for Ryan. As their worlds continue to spiral out of control, Ryan must come to terms with her choices and become the adult she never planned to be.
